Summer Camp - Session D (week 5 & 6)

Whew! Session D has been a phenomenal session with great events and spirit throughout the day and evening. From theme meals to evening programs; great activities such as high ropes and sailing to eco skills over on our Range; from canoe trips to overnights; from the opening campfire to final candlelight it has been an unforgettable session.

Our programing team which consists of Eureka, Prince and Squeeze have carefully choreographed each session with theme days and evening programs and have a delivered highly organized and rewarding program for both campers and staff.

Inter-camps in Halibuton and with Camp Mohava:
During Session D, Camp Kawartha participated in two inter-camps. Inter-camps are friendly competitions with other camps in various sports and activities. On Wed. Aug. 3rd, we sent 65 of our campers and staff to the 14th Annual Rotary Canoe Camp Challenge in Haliburton to compete in canoe races with many other camps including YMCA Camp Wanakita, Camp Northland, and Camp Kandalore. Camp Kawartha won several races, came second in the overall competition, and was given a special mention as the most spirited and most sportsmanlike. During one particular race, a canoe from another team tipped. In response, our canoe made a split decision to do a T-rescue over continuing in the race.

On Wed. Aug. 10th, over 60 highly spirited campers from Camp Moshava arrived at Kawartha to compete in basketball, volleyball, soccer, European handball, and canoe races. The spirit of Moshava closely matched our own and both camps had a great time getting to know each other. Both camps demonstrated a strong sense of sportsmanship. The day was a complete success with promises of future visits to each other’s camps in the future.

We hope you have enjoyed Session D and wish you the best for the rest of the summer and the year ahead.  We hope you see you back next year. A photo gallery for Session D will be posted on the website in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, we’d love to hear from campers and parents so feel free to contact us at adam@campkawartha.ca to share some details of your experiences this summer.
